The remodeled and rebranded shop is filled with women’s brands that we all love including my personal favorite yoga brand: Beyond Yoga! A couple other great brands Adore carries are Cosabella and Lollia. In addition to seasonal items the store is stocked with high-end fashion basics, think stretchy tank tops and leggings that you wear practically everyday. Raspberries might just be one of my favorite foods (behind ice cream.) To honor my life long love for this sweet berry, earlier this summer I took a trip up to an adorable U-Pick Raspberry Farm on Old Mission Peninsula. Here is what I found…

Take a drive up Center Road on Old Mission Peninsula to visit Edmundson Orchard, a sweet u-pick raspberry farm with ripe berries ready for picking! It’s about 3/4 of the way up the peninsula, and you will see the sign on the road (see picture). Drive up the dirt road to find rows of yummy raspberries ripe for the picking! I visited the second week in July 2020 and the berries were just starting to ripen. There were more than enough to pick however it was clear that they will be in season for at least a few more weeks. The farm is open from 10 am to 4 pm- Remember to bring cash, a small bucket is $4 and a larger $7. They do not use pesticides, so if you happen to sneak a taste while picking you will be safe! I also love that this is a local farm owned and operated by local families. Supporting local is one of my top missions in this blog, so it always feels good to visit local farms and experience food straight from the earth. Freshly picked berries are DELICIOUS and even better when locally grown. Happy Picking 🙂

Rip & Delicious Berries!

The streets are painted RAINBOW in downtown Traverse City– And it is super fun! Yesterday I was blessed with a child free hour to walk around, so I popped in a couple store (with my mask) and it made me remember why our town is so special. We have so many small businesses, shops, restaurants, and multiple places to take Instagram worthy pictures! And now, TC’s main avenue, Front Street is a wider place to visit because between Park Street and Union Street is now closed to cars and open to pedestrians. This innovative change began Monday, June 22nd and is intended to give more room to enjoy downtown while social distancing. In addition, State Street (between Park Street and Union Street ) has transformed from a one-way street to a two-way street. Side note, Front Street is a great spot to take a colorful Summer 2020 Selfie with your mask, because who knows if they will do this again next year… but hopefully the city will decide to make it a permanent feature! To everyone who visits, please stay safe and healthy during this unique and ever-changing summer of 2020. Many stores are selling unique face masks that are locally made and locally made hand sanitizer, so don’t forget to support local while you stay safe! Where to pick stunning local Flowers!

There is a gorgeous flower field found out on Old Mission Peninsula, just north of Traverse City where there are hundreds of varieties of flowers and you are allowed to cut your own bouquet. Old Mission Flowers’ self-serve cutting garden is open May through October from dawn until dusk (weather permitting). With endlessly changing options throughout the season, you will have to make more than one visit! The little shed is adorable and stocked with scissors, recycled vases for your choosing, flower cutting suggestions, and flower food to keep the buds in their best shape.
Here are some special details directly from their website www.oldmissionflowers.com How to get to the garden: The address for Old Mission Flowers is 16550 Center Rd., Traverse City, MI 49686 (14 miles north of Traverse City), however, the driveway is off Ladd Rd. If you are headed out the peninsula on Center Rd. (M-37)…after passing Chateau Chantal you will go up a big hill, pass the Ogdensburg Church and cemetery – you will be to Ladd Rd. Watch for the sign on the corner, turn right onto Ladd. The garden is on the corner, you will see the driveway on the left and the garden shed. Feel free to park on the grass. There are no foods, drinks, knick-knacks or bathrooms, just beds of flowers for cutting, a table with pre-cut flowers, and some stellar views. Bring sensible shoes and your camera. Cash, checks, and PayPal are accepted; if you are using cash bring some small bills.

Old Mission Flowers operates on the honor system, so guests pick flowers and put money or a check in a pay pipe. Here is their most recent flower pricing as of June 2020:

Peonies: $3.00 each, 4 for $10.00, 6 for $15.00, 10 for $20.00
